Starlight cleaning have just completed a Builders clean and Sparkle Clean at Monmouth Shire Hall.

This Grade 1 listed building has been being refurbished for two years. With extensive works being carried out to modernise the interior. Prominent features such as the large staircase, court room and very delicate plaster work have all been preserved.

Our task was to take the site from a builders site, to an inhabitable space.

We started on the top floor of the building cleaning through the smaller rooms, each room presenting its own interesting challenges.

All plaster work on the ceilings was carefully dusted and hoovered to remove dust, the windows inside where then cleaned ( being careful of very old glass panes.

Once this was complete, dado rails, skirting, and door frames where dusted. Before finally hoovering all the carpets.

Some of the challenges we where presented with where, fireplaces with surrounds that needed careful and delicate cleaning.
What looked like the oldest toilet in Wales, which needed carefully cleaning and removal of some staining.

Once the top floor was complete, we moved on to the 2nd floor. Which had two large court rooms that needed a thorough deep Clean. With dust from wooden floors being sanded finding its way into every single corner of the room, there was plenty to do. In the court rooms high level cleans had to be performed to remove the large amounts of dust from lighting rails, and plaster cornice work. Whilst on the 2nd floor there was also a full kitchen which had to be thoroughly cleaned.

We continued the work through to the ground floor, where we cleaned the newly installed Lift and stainless steel doors.

Once everything was clean inside our specialist team of window cleaners came in to take care of the exterior windows, leaving the building clean and ready for use.

We are very happy with the results of the clean, as is the contractor,  it really is an interesting place with lots of history.
